I have always considered the hummus recipe I use to be the best around. I am proud of my hummus, and love to serve it at any occasion. The Mayor has never particularly fond of it though -- the texture is heavier and more coarse than a traditional hummus is usually, but that's why I like it so much. And it FULL of garlic.
But, enter in Lydia from The Perfect Pantry to ruin my hummus reign. She posted a recipe for Lemon-Onion Hummus which is the perfect marriage of traditional hummus and french onion dip. Oh, Lord in heaven... it is just too damn good... and I can't believe I never thought of this before.
The Mayor was instantly hooked and so was I... I did make just one alteration: her recipe calls for two tablespoons of sour cream. Me, I think I added about a cup. Yeah, yeah. Don't lecture on overkill -- it's how I roll. I also think I might add another onion to it, but that's just me. The recipe is actually perfect as it is.
And definitely check out the rest of Lydia's blog... week after week she posts really simple, delicious recipes... I am just bummed that I'll have to give her the credit for "my" hummus from now on.
